Erin Callan is a Managing Director of Credit Suisse in the Investment Banking division, based in New York. She is responsible for the Global Hedge Fund Business which includes oversight of all aspects of the Bank's relationships and activities with its hedge funds clients. Erin is a member of the Investment Bank Management Committee and the Global Client Steering Committee.

Ms. Callan joined Credit Suisse in September 2008 from Lehman Brothers where she was the Chief Financial Officer and a member of the Executive Committee of the firm. Prior to becoming CFO, Ms. Callan launched and headed Lehman's Global Hedge Fund Coverage Group. Over a period of 13 years at Lehman, she ran various businesses including the Global New Products Group and the Global Hybrid Origination group. Before joining Lehman Brothers, Ms. Callan was an associate at the law firm of Simpson, Thacher & Bartlett, in New York, for 5 years, practicing corporate tax law focused on financial instruments and new products.

Ms. Callan holds an A.B., magna cum laude, from Harvard University and a J.D. from New York University School of Law.

She was promoted to CFO for the face of LEH. She doesn't have real estate portfolio management background, or risk management background. She relied on LEH risk management team to evaluate LEH risk exposure.
Obviously she didn't do a good job. Probably she didn't fully understand LEH's huge real estate portfolio.
Her famous Apr ER call in 08 won some time for LEH. But she was let go along with COO Joe Gregory after disastrous Sep ER call.

She was once called the most-powerful-woman on Wall st. Rumor is she had an affair with Joe Gregory, the helicopter commuter.
She lives in Time Warner Apartment building. Currently she's facing several lawsuits related to LEH's bankruptcy filing.
