How to determine the strength of a trend?

For swing-trading, you like to trade a stock in a strong trend. How to find a stock in a strong trend? My own method is to find a stock which has MACDH(12,26,9)>0 and RSI(5)>70 in the weekly chart. At close of each trading, I use my program to scan this kind of stocks. By doing this, I have found all strong stocks at the beginning of their strong run.

Just tried it in Amibroker. Very effective. Thanks! Is there any reason why you don't use it on the daily chart? It seems pretty good to me too...
