My aunt bought an old house in a wealthy neighborhood for ~$1.4mil (CAD) about 8-year ago.  At that time, she had it torn down completely & spent ~$1mil to custom build everything.  Guess what?  She sold it last year for >$7mil (CAD) to a chinese family.  Back then, majority living in that neighborhood were white, but now, mostly are wealthy chinese.  They didn't even bargain those houses for cheaper prices.   Instead, they instructed their real estate agent to pay higher than the current offering price without any hesitation.

More and more chinese people moving into my small town, which I don't really like it.  Those white people in my neighborgood tend to spend a lot of time gardening their house or having landscaper taking care of, which chinese people don't really care about.  There were two chinese family moving into my neighborhood for about a year.  Since then until now, I don't see those beautiful gardens in front of their house anymore because I never see them doing any gardening work at all.

true, last 10 years has been gangbusters in Toronto. Rental income is also good in downtown Toronto.

The new real estate taxing policy in Vancouver only drives down demands from foreign buyers, but so far, it doesn't have any impact on pricing because the latest survey from yesterday showed housing prices continue to go up there.

In the meantime, the latest survey also suggested that more foreign buyers are coming to Toronto, which drive housing prices to go up faster due to more demanding.
