Futures. This is why I said, without Fiscal Cliff, Santa Rally is almost a sure thing, now really difficult to trade, you never know if you ever wake up with futures down 1000 points.

might remember wrong, usually the panic low will be revisited which is at ES 1390.

do you have statistics on when usually the market will pull pack to the flash crash low? i remember if the flash crash is for regular SPX then market will touch the low with very very higher chance in short term, not sure about the future case..maybe VIX will rise sharply

I believe futures in after hour has the same effect. Let's wait and see. I don't have time frame though, could be weeks. Check May 2010 crash, you'll know what I mean: https://stockcharts.com/public/1684859/chartbook/195107678;

The same flash crash also happened during last year's debt ceiling negotiation: it triggered my stop loss and went back up right after -- really pissed me off big time back then!

The crash also happened not too late during the evening hours, and the low (very close to it) got revisited during the next day's regular trading hours.

which day was 2011 flash crash?  regular hour or afterhour?  Thanks!

I remembered clearly for 2010 fatfinger flash crash.  
I also watched CNBC that night.  a few guys mentioned the low could be revisited which did happen.

Wow, you have after hour stop loss? That's dangerous, has to be stop limit, cannot just stop loss, right? I never enable ES after hour stop loss, only allow regular hour stop loss, it's too dangerous.

It happened in regular trading hour, unlike tonight.

我还后悔呢，盘中一个很好的base and breakout，我为什么不去long。如果long了，我铁定hold long overnight了，然后又没有after hour stop loss，这会儿，该哭鼻子了。
