Ideas for Fall Home Decorating

Fall typically brings cooler temperatures, falling leaves and the opportunity to decorate our homes with a whole new warmer color scheme. If you want to bring the feeling of fall into your home, there are a few fun and interesting things you can do to decorate your home for the season.

Use Warm Colors
Exchange brighter colored items in your home with warmer colors such as deep greens, burgundy, brown and burnt orange. Things such as tablecloths, towels, bed sheets and throw pillows can typically be inexpensively purchased and can make a dramatic difference in the look and feel of your home.

Bring the Outdoors In
Bring some nature indoors to help accent your home for the season. Berry branches, pine combs and multicolored leaves can be wonderful decorative accents to put throughout the house. Try placing a few pine combs on your mantle to add a fall flair, or using dried berry branches to create a centerpiece. Carve creative jack-o-lanterns using pumpkins during Halloween and scatter smaller pumpkins around your home at Thanksgiving to create a harvest feel.

Enhance the Smell
Bringing in items that have a fall aroma can help enhance the feeling of fall in your home. A bowl full of fall potpourri in your living room take can not only add a festive decoration, but can also add the smell of fall to the room as well. Try purchasing candles or scented oils in fall scents such as spiced apple, cinnamon and pumpkin to help add a little extra to your home ambiance.

Decorate Outside
A festive holiday wreath, or a wreath decorated with dried flowers and other fall foliage, can add a little pizazz to your front door and set the mood for visitors before they ever step inside. Yard decorations such as fall-themed flags, scarecrows and holiday wooden cut outs can add a little fall flavor to your front yard as well.

Set The Table
Set your dining room table with a fall theme to welcome dinner party guests. A fall colored tablecloth and napkins paired with a decorative fall centerpiece can set the perfect mood for an autumn dinner party. If you're very enthusiastic about your fall decorations try purchasing some fall themed plates as well to go along with the set up.
