The ISE Sentiment Index is a unique put/call value that only uses opening long customer transactions to calculate bullish/bearish market direction. Opening long transactions are thought to best represent market sentiment because investors often buy call and put options to express their actual market view of a particular stock. Market maker and firm trades, which are excluded, are not considered representative of true market sentiment due to their specialized nature. As such, the ISEE calculation method allows for a more accurate measure of true investor sentiment than traditional put/call ratios.
But Apple is really going to decimate its earnings estimates. Right now, analysts are expecting $18.5 billion on the top line. Apple is probably coming in well above $20 billion. Last time they beat by that margin they were up $20. So I don't know how this fits into your analysis. But you should expect Apple to beat in a major way this quarter. I bet whatever you want that the stock gets halted in after hours. That's the margin.
I'm pretty reliable in my earnings estimates. See here:
I came in 4th overall out of 32 analysts polled last quarter. I tend to come in between 1-5 every quarter. So this quarter is probably going to be Apple biggest blowout in recent history. Since Apple is nearly 20% of the QQQQ now, if the stock skyrockets on earnings, what will that do for the QQQQ?
Yeah i don't have any doubt that if the market is healthy this year, Apple gets to $400. Right now analysts have completely underestimated the force of the iPad. Analysts are expecting $80 billion in revenue next year right now. But they're going to earn about $100 billion. That's $20 billion above current consensus. Obviously, once Apple reports this quarter, those estimates are going to skyrocket. By Q2, analysts will probably be estimating $90 or so billion. But they're going to earn well over $22-24 in EPS in 2011. So $400 a share by next January is probably a foregone conclusion.
