It's been a humbling year for hedge funds, -2.1% on average at mid-year vs. +6% for the S&P. John Paulson's Advantage Fund was down nearly 15% so far, according to Reuters, a difficult 2011 made worse by his oversized bet on Sino-Forrest (SNOFF.PK). David Einhorn's Greenlight Capital and Louis Bacon's Moore Global each were down ~5%; Bill Ackman's Pershing Square was off ~2%.
