it doesn't matter if it closes the gap later.

I wouldn't even consider there is a gap today, it's too small. Gap is one of the most important tools a daytrader can have, it provides important levels on the intra-day price road map; it also provides a good early indication of potential trend days. Don't equal "playing gap" with "playing gap fill".
