About VIX, it could be simply a bear flag. People are loading up hedges, not because they see dark future, but because the hedge is so cheap right now.

    Some column author suggest to offload some stock and replace it with call options, because options are cheap and we are approaching a major resistances. This may translate to the bearish block trade number and the bullish option trade number, both were mentioned by you in this thread.  I don't know, just it seems to me there are some hidden links in between.
