hehe.. you are not in this area. QC and MRVL are only 2 chip vendors which actually do their own implementation of ARM arch chip, i.e., they follow the same ARM instruction set, but has their own implementation of CPU, while others, i.e., ti, nvda, brcm, ss, stm, etc., actually use the ARM's CPU design with some customization. This is similar to Intel and AMD, both follow X86 instruction set, but different CPU implementation.
In fact, QC's first generation of Snapdragon, world 1st 1GHz CPU is better than Cortex A8 implementation, but A9 catches up very quickly, QC's next gen snapdragon, i.e., 28nm chip, follow the same spec (and go beyond) A-15 has, i.e., A-15 is ARM's new CPU design with new spec, QC's solution is its own design with same spec. OMAP5 is late than QC's "A-15", which is due by the end of this year. |
