Bottoms tend to be straight volume spikes and tops tend to be more nuanced - we often see price climbing and volume ratios decline. However, towards end of an intermediate term uptrend, we often observe volume ratio rising with prices - this is basically smart money distributing their holdings - a distribution pattern. Similarly in downtrends, when we see double bottoms, often volume ratio spikes appear at the first bottom, and second bottom sees much lower volume ratios even when prices trade lower vs the first bottom - this is an accumulation pattern
