Very simple and intuitive, I just check whether ma20 along with the BB is going up ... next I check the smallest deviation/volatility ... finally the pullback if any is shallow within the trend.
You know what I mean: pick the nicest looking trend among all the symbols. I suppose this can be done for stock options too ... but they can't stay in a trend as long as an asset because the volatility is higher in stocks. So breakout is a higher chance trade for stocks.
We can also use Cobra's criterion for break out for the beginning of a new trend ...
1. First there should have been a strong trend and it has been going on for a while;
2. Second there is a base, or cup ... the longer the better;
3. Third, wait above the base with your order to catch the break out.
Short is simply the opposite ... the key is to stay on a trend as long as you can ... many of the assets fluctuate violently during european hours and you don't want to get shaken out. I tried 6J several times in ST but got stopped out flat even if I had good profits before getting kicked out because my stop losses were too close.
You found the same problem in GC. However, 6J is much much smoother than GC on daily chart! So a large stop loss really deserves it. |
