MRVL is the least competitive player in mobile chip vendor among qcom, txn, st, nvda, brcm. It is losing its biggest wireless client to qcom/txn and bet big on China's TD-SCDMA. It gets something this year from China for high end TD-SCDMA share, but I doubt that's good enough to break even for its investment. It is trying hard to re-gain the momentum in this area by aggressively hiring and betting on China. It is OK for short term manipulation play of its stock, but it's very hard to justify its worthy w/o a good proof its wireless stragety does get something meaningful.
This is a booming industry at least for another 2--3 years, it might be better to go with the winners along the path rather than betting on turning around from losers. |
