咬人的狗不叫！
本周Obama vs Wall Street还在继续，U.S. Congressman Barney Frank said after Friday’s meeting that global governments are in control, not the banks, “No one got up and said “Don’t regulate us. It would have been a waste of their time if they did.” Asked later if he thought the bankers had gotten the message, he replied, “Frankly it doesn’t matter if they did or didn’t. They aren’t in charge of this.” The chief of Britain’s Financial Services Authority said, “It was not a negotiation or a debate.” 看上去胜利在向Obama这边倾斜，but really? 美国的那些大银行早就说过过严的regulation会导致美国刚刚开始的经济复苏提前结束， to make their point有什么比制造美国股市暴跌更有效的办法吗？ 看上面的我的sectors Perf charts就一目了然了，我把xlf 换成了$bkx - banks index, 过去两周股市被sold off，别的sectors都大跌, 就连consumer staples都跌了2.13%， 只有banks只跌了0.3%，看一月份的图就更有意思了， banks鹤立鸡群，唯我独尊up 8.97%. 大家看明白了吧， 这就应了中国的那句俗话：“会叫的狗不咬人，咬人的狗不叫！”
Mutual Fund Monday？
我觉得有很大的可能 星期一会是个ugly day. 从去年11月开始mutual fund managers几乎每个星期一都会把一部分资金投入到股市里来，这已经不是什么秘密了， CNBC在节目里提过很多次。 他们之所以这么做是因为they were late in the game. 他们没有参与或者只是投入了很少资金到这次从去年3月开始的market rally，惦记着等股市拉回个10%甚至更多在入场， 问题是market这次根本就没给他们机会，导致他们的performance落后很多， 为了catching up才有了Mutual Fund Monday这种有意思的现象。1月份就更特殊了，传统上1月份资金流入股市最多的一个月，不光是mutual funds, hedge funds, investment banks等等都要put money to work. 这就是为什么January Barometer这么重要， as S&P goes in January, so goes the year. 根据Stock Trader's Almanac记录，1951年以来January Barometer只出现过5次错误，准确率达到91.5%。 问题是1月份已经结束了，表现很不好，S&P跌了3.7%，Nasdaq跌了5.37%, 我倒是觉得他们现在应该担心客户会不会把钱提出来，谁会这么快忘记痛哪？何况market just had big run。传统上2月份是股市表现不好的月份。根据Stock Trader's Almanac记录， 过去11年S&P up 3, down 8, average change -2.9%. 第一个交易日S&P 60% of time up, average up 0.1%。再看看本周股市表现， 上周股市暴跌后，本周market试图反弹了4次都失败了，甚至星期五报出的比预估强很多的Q4 GDP数据都帮不上忙， 看着DOW上涨了120点，然后就被sold off hard收盘的时候跌了53点接近当天的低点， 周五收在低点是非常bearish地。新的一年刚刚开始，谈不到什么performance, 目前的股市的状况比不是很好，mutual fund managers没有必要这么着急把资金投入到股市里去。还有就是在股市里当大家都认为一件事一定会发生，往往就不发生了。
2009 vs 2003
昨天花了点时间比较了一下2003年的那波rally. 2003年的那波rally就像这波rally的template, 同样是3月份开始的反弹， 同样是在50% retracement of last high附近开始做correction, 都是第一个星期暴跌了差不多5% ， 2003年那次第一次oversold bounce是在跌了6.5%以后。如果 用6.5%做这次的参照物的话，1075应该是转折点 ，但是这次的拉回更猛烈，多给个1%-2%的空间，1055-1065可能是short-term bottom. 这并不和NYSE McClellan Oscillator的reading 矛盾， -93是现在的reading， 这是过去3年第7次跌破-90，market is very oversold. 如果下周一S&P再跌个1%甚至更多，McClellan Oscillator就会跌破-100，下周二就很可能是转折点，股市很多bullish reversal都是发生在星期二， 还没有take profit的朋友可以利用这波rally赶快take profit. 从中期上看， 股市的趋势己经改变了， now we are in wait and see mode or consolidation phase, 公司的盈利要变得更好， housing problem要不能再恶化， 失业率要减少就业要增加。本周报出的有些经济数据并不好，existing home sales 12月暴跌16.7%，是过去40年来跌幅最大的一个月，New home sales unexpectedly fell 7.6%, durable goods orders rose only 0.3% versus forecasts that they’d be up 1.7%, while new unemployment claims fell last week by only 8,000 versus forecasts that they’d decline by 28,000. The World Economic Council’s annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland, did not help neither. 他们预测美国和欧洲的经济复苏会在下半年暂停（stall), 全球经济复苏就靠中国和印度维持经济高速运转的能力了。从年初开始中国己经开始紧缩信贷，印度本周也提高了bank reserve rate，我觉得有点太高估中国和印度的能力了. 再加上Obama vs Wall Street还在继续， 希腊的倒债危机还在恶化，并且有蔓延的的趋势。 所以从经济基本面上看美国和全球经济并不是很乐观，double-dip的可能性还是很高的。
