2010首个工作日与老板谈辞职炒股
中午跟老板一起吃午饭，在偶常去的中餐馆。偶建议并点了两个偶的最爱：一个青笋炒鱼条，一个水煮鱼片，外加一份全美国中餐馆都一致的酸辣汤。
寒暄了一下，偶说准备quit the job to focus on stock trading.老板说：Oh, what a new year gift!没有注意她的表情，因为偶在倒茶水，也因为当时心里还是有点慌。所以有了点误会，偶以为她说是偶在网上订货Amazon送到她东海岸的礼物，偶都没抬头，顺了一句：do you like it?她说No.偶才开始注意她的表情。
搞清楚后，她说她不知她女儿是否喜欢偶的礼物，偶得要自己去问。偶便自然而然地让她把她女儿的cell number beamed to my cell phone.
首先，她祝贺偶去年的战绩，同时表示偶可能把事情想简单了。偶2008年战绩是26万到30万，由于Carry Over以前的Loss，Capital Gain没有交税。今年只有一点点历史上的capital loss to cover, 要交大概16万的税，这个偶没有考虑进去。所以现在资本只能算是66万，尽管可以延到4月份才交（肉疼啊，可以搞多少steak+merlot啊！都可以买牧场和酿酒厂了！）。她建议偶今年声明为Self-employer，先去find out税收的优缺点。
其次，两年的业绩可能还不够，但的确值得一试。问偶，偶的trading goal是什么，偶不明白指的是什么，瞎编了一个：偶赚了钱后办一个慈善基金，帮助中国无力受基本教育的孩童。当然也不是太离谱，这是梦想，但现在很清醒，还没开始做这梦。现在只是要找自由，自己过得自在些。她说，you know, XXXXX(她女儿) is working as a charity volunteer.偶大言不惭，I want to hire her someday.两人哈哈大笑。
她让偶好好想想，同时，给了偶optional offers:
1, be a part time contractor. Schedule could be from 1:30pm to 5:30pm every weekday, ie, when the market is closed. Hourly compensation rate will be a 20% rise on top of my current perm wage. But I could not work at home, neither do I have flexible schedule. In addition, 3 contractors would share an office instead of my currently having my own window office. I am strictly not able to do anything other than work. The good side is over time hourly rate is 150% of that of the standard.
2, the company policy says employees could take up to 3 months of unpaid leave of absence. She could renew once for me, ie, I could take off 6 months before making the final decison as long as I agree to work for the company for at least 6 months after the absense of the 6 months is over. If I choose to be a part time contractor as desired after 6 months, then I need to work for one year with 20 hours per week.
During the absence, the company still covers my benefit package and I can still use the company's DSL connection at home because I am still an employee. There is just no pay.
As a contractor, I can use the company's DSL connection at home for free but I need to pay benefit package by myself.
偶表示严重感谢。随口问，contractor不是40% rise么？回答说"I think you believe that that's the best offer I can give. The job market is really bad and we are continuing to cut expenses. I don't understand how you can make good money from the stock market this very year."
偶下面两周的工作是写Document，可以work at home。然后到时给她偶的决定。有几个项目在酝酿，如果要再招人，偶要负责new employee startup transfer.
最后就是，在她把偶的决定通知给整个team前，这件事just between her and me.
偶感到意外，但也不是很意外。
