I have a pci-e sata card (sil3132) installed. I guess raid controller from motherboard works too.
You have to do like this: configure raid (either 0 or 1, with 2 identical HDs connected to raid, I recommend seagate HDs, western digital won't work according to the manufacture) during boot up, then boot into windows 7 installation DVD; if raid adpator is not recognized by windows, windows won't find hard disk; it will ask for the raid adpatordriver, pop the driver cd or use a usb stick, browse for the right raid driver (64 bit e.g.). When raid adptor is recognized, the raid HD will be pop up, format new drive using windows set up utilities and install windows 7.
Always make backup of important files because raid 0 has double chance to screw up.
It'll be fast when you copy lots of files. |
