Overall, I do not see a very bullish picture developing for either commodities or the foreign markets. Furthermore, the Yen is precariously rising against most other currencies, and this is not helpful for key foreign areas of the world like China. These discoveries add to my bearish stance.
Finally, it is worth noting that individual commodities play an important economic role for many foreign markets. For example, mining is one of the larger industries in Australia and parts of South America. And, oil production is important to the Middle East, Russia and parts of Africa. Therefore, the analysis above may provide some insight into future opportunities to trade individual ETF’s focused on a single country.
