How to analyze the general markets/sectors?

It is important to analyze the general markets before buying any stocks. For my power trading system, I use weekly and daily RSI(5) as well as daily MACDH(12,26,9). As close of last Friday, both weekly and daily RSI(5) of SPY, QQQ and IWM are all closed below 70 (actually QQQ's daily RSI(5) has been being below 70 for a few days). More important, their daily MACDH keep decreasing for a few days. Under such situations, I will not make any new buys on stocks for swing trading. Instead, I will keep close watch/stop on my existing positions.

Good. When RSI(5) below 70, you sound alarm, that really means you're experienced instead of just telling what book says. Thanks for sharing!

One day, daily RSI(5) of the general markets/stocks may become above 70. Should I start to make new buy? Watch at least daily MACDH(12,26,9). When daily RSI(5) becomes above 70 but MACDH keeps decreasing, I will not make new buy.
