I just asked my broker and they said there won't be dividend charge on the short position since today.
Only the position on Thursday night counts.

I guess you may hold the short positions through Thursday night and daytraded it thereafter, so cause the charge of dividend.(Just a guess)

I myself used to be charged on some in the money butterfly options, and first noticed that the spy divident thing really hurts, especially for options.
