I think it would be a bad move if Russia cut off gas to Europe. German population is against sanction, cutting supply would push German to opposition side. If Germany is against sanction, EU cant do much...
For US, Russia has three cards to play I think, 1) stop using use for international trade
2)  sell US treasury
3) stop paying loans by US company
I wonder how this will play out
