146 S&P 500 Stocks Going Ex-Dividend Through Year End

There are 146 companies in the S&P 500 set to go ex-dividend before 2012 comes to an end.  Below is a list of the ones that currently yield more than 3%.  As shown, Windstream (WIN) has the highest yield at 12.09%, and it goes ex-dividend on the third to last trading day of the year.  Frontier Communications (FTR) has the second highest yield at 9.06%, followed by CenturyLink (CTL) at 7.65%.  Best Buy (BBY)'s recent plunge has pushed its yield up to 5.76%, ranking it fourth on the list below.  Pepco Holdings (POM) rounds out the top five with a yield of 5.66%.  

Remember, to capture the dividend, you have to own the stock at the close on the day prior to its ex-dividend date.
