Really? I mean the $ you actually receive, not the money your agency bill to the company.
The highest hourly rate I heard from CA is $100/h

I didn't work as Contract.
But some old machine in my company (VAX DEC, , ,) were needing running. had to get contractor(s) to help. That's what we did pay.

I'm in LA but not IT.

150K is good for you if your wife has income also, total household income >200K before tax is basic line for a soso good life in LA.

House price here is not cheap but cheaper than Bay area, for the good area that Asian people likes is almost same as Bay area. in Irvine, a 2000Ft2 two story house (less than 10 years old) should be higehr than $500K. For some good area that close to the beach (2 miles range), no single house is lower than $550K (about 1200Ft2 one story, 50 years old).

Tax and the other withhold are high in CA, i can only get 60% of my pay to pocket plus around 10% sale tax and the property tax is more than $7000/year.

I have been living in Calgry for 6 years and love Canada's life, still hope someday I can come back. Not regret the move but just don't like the life style in LA. But you know the moving is painful for a family.

If you have the same income in Canada and no benift (child edu or grow space) to achieve from the moving, personally i don't suggest to move to LA. CA goverment is full of SB and full of LaoMuo on the street, i can image in 10 years CA will full of Lao Muo. You have to chose the good area to live but the life is not cheap. All the asian are busy and have to make money, no time for parties and hobbies like Fishing. Basicly i feel no enjoyful life in LA, the only thing i like is the car is cheap, you cna change different car every year. I just got a BMW 335I RWD and enjoy it now (sold the Caddy SRX V8).

I just want to go work as contractor in CA, stay there for a couple years, work - live -travel, not meant to permanently live there, the time to obtain GC is too long, life is short, I don't have that much time to waste.

媳妇原来是大家拿的啊。

$100/hr for short-term contract is a bit low. you need to count the gaps between short-term contracts. unless you can bill overtime.

你指的是IT contract吗？$100/h以上的都是什么公司？
