short answer, i think they have chance. functionality or user experience better or worse is personal judgement. no doubt android is moving super fast and gain lots of momentum. on the other hand, some problems start to show up as well, os version fragmentation, patent suits, consistance between phone and tablet, etc..

wp7/windows on arm (win8) need to have "differentiation". i agree with Elop's comment nokia will be nothing but another version of HTC/SS if it goes with android.

it's a tough call and this time my guts feeling is on up side. (of course, guts feeling comes from years of experience i make my living in this fastest growing indurstry)

no recommendation on anything, let's wait for 2 more Q till first batch of nok's wp7 on market.

I feel really sad about this company.

while I was working there,  I saw the management team with more and more bad rats from Nortal and Lucent and some other big losers,   they really have no idea about how smartphone should be tomorrow, and they keep on saying that email is the most key thing on Smartphone.  it's the only key thing on BlackBerry I guess.

Waterloo is a small town,  only about 250K population, and RIM has 5700 employees there at least.  If RIM tanks,  the housing market there will be down big.

i am under the impression that their PD (product delivery) teams would have big hit.. Rim recruited quite some people from mot/nokia/sony-erricsson when these companies had big layoff in last couple of years and made them RIM's PD teams.

On other hand, i think their waterloo r&d team has been enjoying easy life for quite a while. their ottawa team has quite busy life..
