傅雷先生在《现代美术二十讲》里给出过一个解释：在拉丁语中，“角”是力的象征。而语言学家给出了另外一种解释：“角”是一个翻译上的错误，源自《旧约·出埃及记》第34章第29节：

摩西手里拿着两块法版下西奈山的时候，不知道自己的面皮因耶和华和他说话就发了光。
And it came to pass, when Moses came down from mount Sinai with the two tables of testimony in Moses' hand, when he came down from the mount, that Moses wist not that the skin of his face shone while he talked with him.

《圣经》最早用希伯来语写成，对于摩西的变化，希伯来语用了一个词来形容：Keren。这个词本身有多重含义，一是光线，光芒，Beam；另一个是角，Horn。当《圣经》从希伯来文翻译为希腊文，再由希腊文翻译拉丁文的时候，在最早的拉丁文版的《圣经》(Vetus Latina)中，被译者错误地选择了“角”的含义，于是，摩西就长出了犄角。

摩西长出了犄角还不算是奇怪的事情，更奇怪的是国内许多资料都把这座雕像从意大利移到了梵蒂冈。在这些资料里宣称，米开朗琪罗的《摩西》被放置在梵蒂冈圣彼得大教堂（Basilica di San Pietro in Vaticano）。而事实上，这座雕像位于罗马的圣彼得镣铐教堂（Basilica di San Pietro in Vincoli）。那里收藏着一副圣物镣铐，据说是圣彼得当年被囚禁时用过的镣铐。

希腊文在这里并不是说“显明是神的儿子”，而是说：“被立为神的儿子”。希腊文 ὁρισθέντος 在这里是被动式，用于指人，只能是被确立、被树立的意思（参见 Walter Bauer 新约希腊语词典），而吕振中的翻译正是“被立”，非常贴切。英文把这个词翻译为 declared 勉强说得过去，中文和合本说的“显明是”就明显太离谱了。可是，耶稣“被立为神的儿子”？按正统的基督教说法，他本来就是神的儿子，而且是独生的，还用“被立”吗？不，耶稣“被立为神的儿子”，这不是基督教的“正统”，而是与三位一体说完全不形容的、否认耶稣为神的异端邪说 Adoptianismus 的核心！

和合本错误相当的多，其中故意犯的占的比例不过半。先挑这样的。其他语言翻译问题，怕是又要多劳司令提醒。

保罗在加拉太书中说：

对比中英文，可以看到，KJV版里的they were even cut off 哪里有这些异端自己割绝自己的意思？不知道中文bible的翻译者为什么总是要设法掩盖耶和华耶稣保罗的残忍？从加拉太书5:12可以明确看到，保罗对处置异端是怎么指示的，要cut off。
