http://www.cnbc.com/id/41060318
"Wall Street titan Goldman Sachs [GS  166.49    -8.19  (-4.69%)    ] is an obvious favorite, Bove said, as the banking sector enters what he calls one of the "most exciting mergers and acquisition periods in history of the business."

Dick Bove Slashes Earnings Estimates on Goldman (GS), Cuts Target from $214 to $188

Take-home points:
1) the famous analysts are as clueless as the average investors
2) reading headline earning reports is an important part of their job, as we can do too.

Trade Of A Lifetime?
http://www.cnbc.com/id/23522110/Trade_Of_A_Lifetime

"In what many consider to be the boldest call on the Street in a while, Punk Ziegel's Dick Bove called Citigroup the best buying opportunity he’s ever seen. "

"The Bottom Line: I think the stock will be trading at $55 in the next 3 years, concludes Bove, which is double from where it is at the present time. “You only get a once in a generation chance to buy a stock like this at this price. This is it,” he says."

Today 1/19/2011
Citi is barely $5 per share. Bove is represented a buying opportunity once in 10 generations.

Take-home points: once a bull, forever a bull. A dead clock can be right twice a day.

Dick Bove is different from wall street sell side analyst who make a living from 'soft' dollars. Instead, Bove works for boutique research shop and makes his living from earning 'hard' dollars by selling his research reports.

I just feel disgusted anytime he shows up on CNBC to make bold calls. His market timing has a incredibly at least 50% chance to be deadly wrong.

On Oct/21/2009 7:05am, right after WFC earning, Dick Bove on CNBC said Wells Fargo “has its loan losses under control” and that they “should be able to grow revenues by increasing loan volumes”. He said Wells Fargo was one of the three financial companies that “should do well in the market today and lift all financial stocks.” To close out his thoughts on the financials, he called Wells Fargo a “standout” with those earnings numbers.

On Oct/21/2009 03:29pm (the same day!!!!)  Bloomberg reports that Rochdale's Bove cuts WFC to Sell from Neutral... because "loan losses were mounting".
