GOLDMAN SACHS FORMS PARTNERSHIP WITH AFFILIATE OF CHINA'S STATISTICS BUREAU TO DEVELOP COMPREHENSIVE ECONOMIC INDICATORS
高盛公司与中国国家统计局附属单位建立合作伙伴关系 以共同开发综合经济指标
HONG KONG, November 8, 2004 - Goldman Sachs announced today that it has entered into a cooperation agreement with the China Economic Monitoring and Analysis Center (CEMAC), to jointly develop and publish economic indicators which will provide a clearer and more comprehensive assessment of China's growing economy.
香港，2004年11月8日 -高盛公司今天宣布与中国经济景气监测中心(CEMAC)联合开发并出版经济指标以便更全面透彻地监测中国的经济发展。
CEMAC is an affiliate of the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
中国经济景气监测中心是中国国家统计局（ＮＢＳ）的一个附属机构。
The new indicators, named the CEMAC-Goldman Sachs Coincidence Indicator and the CEMAC-Goldman Sachs Leading Indicator, will be compiled using the same methodology as in many developed countries and will use components that are selected in line with global standards.
这两个指标分别是中国经济景气监测中心高盛先行指标和中国经济景气监测中心高盛一致指标。指标的制作将采用发达国家通用的方法并以国际标准选择指标的构成部分。
The CEMAC-Goldman Sachs Leading Indicator will be the first comprehensive leading economic activity indictor developed for China. It leads real economic activity and can help forecast growth momentum. It will include information such as industrial sales ratios and a logistics index, in addition to many core data points such as money supply and levels of foreign direct investment.
中国经济景气监测中心高盛先行指标将会是第一个全面预测中国经济的先行指标。 该指标的变化领先于宏观经济总体变化因而可以帮助投资者预测经济走势。 它由工业产品产销率, 物流指标, 货币供应和外来直接投资水平等数据构成。
The CEMAC-Goldman Sachs Coincidence Indicator will track a number of economic variables, which include corporate profits, government tax revenues and industrial labor supply. The Coincidence Indicator both reflects the current status of the economy and offers a historical perspective into the country's economic cycles.
中国经济景气监测中心高盛一致指标监测的范围包括企业利润，政府税收和产业从业人员数等等。 该指标不仅能反映经济运行的现况，而且可以体现经济周期的历史变化。
Commenting on the cooperation agreement, Paul Bernard, managing director and co-director of Pan Asia Research at Goldman Sachs, said: This cooperation will enable investors to better understand China's economy, both what is happening now and what may happen in the future.

In the past two years, Goldman Sachs has independently developed the Goldman Sachs China Activity Index, which is a measure of growth momentum, and the Goldman Sachs Financial Conditions Index, which is a comprehensive reading of changes in monetary policy.
