Copper vs. SPX Correlation

Copper and SPX correlate well in history. The questions to be asked are:

1) Does copper lead the SPX most of the time?
2) Will SPX break out near term following the copper?

    Good question!!!!

Look at the chart carefully, you see SPX led copper before this year. When Market went down in Feb and Apr, copper led SPX.

But, I say but if you look at the chart carefully, when market went up, There is NO SUCH relationship because SPX and copper went up synchnizely, copper was not leading SPX & SPX was not leading copper too. They went up at the same time.

As far I can tell, this so-called leading relationship is unclear, non convincing to me.
