Irish women robbed at gunpoint in Wicker Park

Three Irish women were robbed of their purses and passports in Wicker Park early Friday by two women who confronted them with a semiautomatic handgun, police said.

The women, all in their early 20s and from Dublin, Ireland, were walking in the 1600 block of North Wood at 5:30 a.m. on the way to the home of one of the women.

Two other women initially walked past the group before turning and following behind them, police said.

One woman said, "Give me your s---" and the other woman grabbed one of the women from behind, Shakespeare District Capt. Marc Buslik said.

After the suspects displayed a blue steel semiautomatic handgun, the victims turned over two handbags, a change purse, passports, a cell phone, a digital camera and $200, Buslik said.

The two suspects then fled on foot, police said.

No one was injured in the incident. No one was in custody in connection with the crime Friday night, police said.
