These patterns should be used with other TA tools, such as resistance/support lines, etc. etc. Some patterns need to be confirmed at 3rd day closing. Such as today, we don't know it will be an evening star or not after tomorrow. It just gives you a warning that reversal may come.

But most of time, you still have chance to get in/out after you see the pattern, but you may have less profit (or more lose) if you can still act quickly after seeing the pattern.

Tomorrow, if it gaps down and closes red, then it's an evening star. It won't be a shooting star.
Looking carefully the difference between the evening star and shooting star. Shooting star has a long upside shadow with a small body (black or white). No shadow or a little shadow line below the body.
