美国总统川普1日突然推文表示，9月1日开始对3000亿美元中国商品加徵关税10%。川普1日在俄亥俄州辛辛那提的造势晚会上说，在达成美中贸易协议之前，美国要「税」翻中国，北京将会继续感受到这种痛苦。

综合媒体报导，川普1日到俄州辛辛那提参加造势晚会，他对民众表示，中国迫切希望与美国的贸易恢复正常，「他们正在祈祷，他们希望在1年半内看到一位（美国的）新总统，这样他们就能像过去25年一样，继续撕裂美国。」

川普指出，中国多年来一直在盗窃工作和知识产权，但共和党和民主党的政治人物都无法阻止。川普说，在中国明确表达不愿意达成协议后，他在1日宣布对中国商品将实施新关税，「直到达成协议为止，我们将『税』翻中国」（Until such time as there is a deal, we will be taxing the hell out of China）。随后现场民众开始欢呼。
