真相很残忍：55岁以上人员撑起美国3月惨淡非农就业

美国3月新增非农就业仅12.6万，数据“惨不忍睹”，但其实这不是最糟的部分。其中家庭调查数据显示，美国新增就业主要来自55岁及以上人员，其余年轻年龄段的新增就业均为负，且54岁以下的人劳动力参与率逐年下滑。

美国劳工部每月公布的就业报告分为两个调查数据：家庭调查数据和机构调查数据。家庭调查的数据是从约6万户家庭中推算得出，包括农业就业人口，这部分数据用来计算失业率。机构调查的数据是从约40万非农企业和政府机构中推算得出，经济学家通常依据这部分数据来分析劳动力市场和经济状况。

家庭调查基于美国总人口，数据采样范围更广，意味着总体误差更小；但机构调查的样本数更大，意味着样本误差更小，两者各有优缺，要全面评估美国就业状况及其整体经济状况，需要结合两个报告来看。

家庭调查显示，美国3月仅3.4万新增就业。从年龄层划分，其中55岁及以上的人新增就业32.9万，而其他年龄层新增就业均为负数。具体来看，25~54岁就业减少6.4万，20~24岁就业减少29.1万，16~19岁就业减少0.4万。

下图显示，2007年末以来，美国累计新增就业人数。其中，灰线为55岁及以上人员，红线为55岁以下人员。图中可见，55岁及以上人员的累计新增就业是缓慢攀升的，然而当前55岁以下人员的新增就业尚不及2007年末时水平。

下图为2007年以来劳动力参与率情况。红线代表54岁及以上人员，蓝线代表54岁以下人员。由此可见，54岁以下人员的劳动力参与率在持续走低，而54岁及以上人员的劳动力参与率呈震荡态势。

财经博客Zerohedge点评称，这也是美国薪资增幅疲软的原因，由于美国利率处于低位，55岁及以上的人不能依靠存款利息生活，因此选择就业，但他们在劳动力市场上缺乏对工资的议价能力。与此同时，年轻人选择留在学校，而非进入就业市场。

a lot of schools provide 1-year continuing education program in which quite some folks (americans and non-americans) have already had an advanced degree. i take it is driven by the fact that quite some young people can not get a decent job so that they stay in school and look for a better opportunity.

In the same big group, but he doesn't work with me, so I do not know more detail.  we once talked in a lunch, and I was shocked that he is 62. He said that he wanted to keep on doing what he likes, otherwise he would die earlier, he keeps himself busy and his brain smart.  Actually we are in a small nitch area, not every programmer can do what we do, it is very very complicated, my boss said that there were just 1000 to 1500 programmers in this world, who are capable of doing our job.
