RGLD is actually not really a gold miner;  It focuses on acquiring royalty interests or financing projects that are in production or in development stage in exchange for royalty interests, like SLW.

Jan. 2 (Bloomberg) -- The Indian government wants to cut gold imports to 800 tons by the end of the financial year, down more than five percent from the previous period. “The biggest (factor) everybody is talking about -- and should not be taken lightly – is the index rebalancing,” said Dave Meger, director of metals trading with Vision Financial Markets.

The Standard & Poor’s Goldman Sachs Commodities Index and the Dow Jones UBS Commodities Index both increased their allocations to gold and silver for 2014. Funds that track these must recalibrate accordingly.

“There are going to be a significant amount of gold and silver purchases as a result of that index rebalancing,” Meger said.
