最近北美就业情况调查

我知道的一些公司最近又有一轮headcount reduction，但政府的就业报告是越来越好。

看看到底是什么回事。

胡同的同学天涯海角都有，请说一下自己所在的就业情况，大家交流一下第一手的信息，互有帮助

谢谢curiosity的提醒：这个调查只针对北美的就业情况。如果贵公司在北美裁人，但在中国招人，请选裁人的选项

business is good. but since overall it's not that good, people have to pretend to cut the budget.

poor IT is the target. Another reason not to work on IT.

My company has cash cows, but it  keeps cutting cost by laying off people in US and shifting business to China and India.

I am working in a university, our IT department has many opens, other nearby universities also have many opens right now. The only concerns is that the pay is low, at 50k to 80k range, much lower than the industries.

先说前头，咱们工资不跟HF或者WS比。

但如果你不是住在加州或者DC/New York area，一年能有7万或者8万在其他地方真的不算少了。五万是少了点，但我估计是给大学刚毕业的吧？

My place is 70m from DC, you can call DC area, all IT opens require 3 years to 6+ years experiences, 50K to 80K depends on experiences, that is a very low wage in the area.

刚裁了一轮, 虽然人不多, 只占1%, 但是对士气打击很大

从2008年到现在一共三轮了.

有文章（专职的 Recruiter 写的）说，裁员是在公司业务、前景实在没有办法维持下所作的最后的决定。因此，如果同行其他公司没有裁员，而你所在的正在做，基本上这是个信号。比如，在多伦多西面的滑铁卢的 RIMM 一直再裁员。。。。大家知道是怎么一回事。

基本上大家私底下是认为CEO做的很差..

这次名义上不叫裁员, 叫战略调整, 他认为赚钱的产品线扩张, 不赚钱的收缩.

现在的关键不是柴人了，是裁掉的人找不到工作，尤其是搞金融的。掉了一个金融的，要生出3-4个IT工作才能顶上GDP. IT到海外去了，那么，要生出10个Macdonald或Walmart工作。也就是说，最好的结果也是穷人增多。终之，很佩服目前还有乐观心太的朋友。

这个实在是很出乎意料之外了。仅供参考

America will be better off with less wall st jobs in my view. Their contribution to the economy or GDP can very easily be replaced by governments printing more paper monies. The contributions of IT, silicon valley, Macdonald's and Walmart jobs to the economy and social well being are real and meaningful, however.

I am in Hartford CT working for an insurance company.  Our company keep laying off employees and hiring Indian contractors.  Our department had two rounds of layoff this year.  Even though the management keep saying this should be the last one, we still believe there are more coming.
