This morning's news centers on weekend reports of a 5.1% gain in China consumer prices during November, the fastest in two years, up from October's 4.4% pace, and well above Beijing's target of 3%. Industrial activity rose 13.3% YoY in November, topping expectations and up slightly from October's 13.1% gain. The central bank's decision Friday to lift commercial banks' reserve requirements reflected officials' attempts to fight inflation without stamping on growth, clearly pleasing to prices of industrial metals, with copper prices rising 1.3% to a fresh high in London trade today.
